Headlight AI has been selected to lead a multi-million pound project involving academic institutions and SME's from the UK.
The Prometheus project is concerned with the inspection, exploration, and interaction of unknown environments which can only be accessed through limited access pipes or bore-holes.
The primary use case is the inspection of subterranean mines, which undermine the rail network. A reconfigurable robotic system itself will be designed, built and tested by a consortium led by Headlight. Our technology enables real-time optimisation of sensors to maximise their performance, extending their longevity and their ability to adapt to different environments.
Our knowledge of autonomous navigation in GPS denied locations would be of value to this project. We will develop real-time situational awareness algorithms using the available drone sensors.
Recently, Headlight AI have deployed AI software that enables sensors to adapt, cross-learn from each other and improve accuracy in extreme environments. We have experience in AI powered simultaneous localisation and mapping algorithms in tunnels and indoor applications. Headlight AI were chosen to lead the consortium in order to take an agile, innovate approach to the challenge.
CHIMERA is a mobile inspection and repair robot that will revolutionise the inspection, repair, and maintenance in restricted and difficult to access environments.
